St. Patrick's Day usually harkens pictures of tacky orange and green face-paint, tiny plastic shot-glasses attached to cheap party bead necklaces, t-shirts exclaiming, "Let's get shamrocked". But how do you take the kitsch out of one of our most garish holidays? Challenge accepted!
Reagan Barnes of Events by Reagan and I, along with several of Kansas City's top wedding vendors, set out to create our take on an Eclectic and Modern St. Paddy's Day Wedding. We combined some old-world elements like vintage silverware, green estate glasses and crisp, white lace-trimmed napkins, with the clean, modern, minimalism of a stark white backdrop. Delicate vines of greenery, crept up the walls and along the table and chairs providing a lively freshness. We hoped that our end result would be whimsical and clean.
One of the major selling points of this shoot for us was getting an excuse to play with Pantone's Color of the Year, "Greenery". I have to admit, I was initially surprised by this year's color. We've seen greenery really take a lead role in the flower and design world for the last couple years. House plants are all the rage. But as Pantone explains, this year's choice in color is symbolic. Greenery is a symbol of new beginnings.
I can't think of a more hopeful and inspiring choice!
Thanks to all the Kansas City wedding vendors and creatives that helped inspire this shoot! Now grab your favorite leprechaun hat and let's get shamrocked!
